Ira F. Braun, M.D., FACR

A partner with Radiology Associates of South Florida, Dr. Braun serves as the medical director of imaging services at Homestead Hospital and is a member of the executive committee and board of directors of Radiology Associates of South Florida. He has been associated with RASF since 1990. In the past, Dr. Braun has served as the clinical director of MRI, an associate professor of radiology, and the director of neuroradiology at the Medical College of Virginia. He was assistant professor of radiology at Emory University School of Medicine and associate director of the Residency Program. He has worked as a clinical assistant professor or radiology and dentistry at New Jersey College of Medicine, as a clinical assistant professor of radiology at New York University School of Medicine, and as an adjunct attending physician in radiology at Riverside Hospital .

He is also a board examiner for the American Board of Radiology. He was elected a fellow of the American College of Radiology as well. Dr. Braun has a Certification of Added Qualifications in neuroradiology.

Dr. Braun has served as the associate editor of Radiographics, as a manuscript reviewer for American Journal of Neuroradiology, and on the advisory board for American Journal of Neuroradiology. Dr. Braun has been published on a wide array of subjects including dense intracranial epidermoid tumors, dense cystic craniopharyngiomas, jugular venous thrombosis, and magnetic resonance imaging of pituitary adenoma. Dr. Braun has authored or co-authored more than fifty published papers and has presented more than fifty papers at national and international meetings. He is a past president of the American Society of Head and Neck Radiology.

Dr. Braun is a frequent lecturer, speaking on a vast number of topics including recent advances in the radiologic evaluation of a patient with lumbar disc disease, pitfalls and interpretation of post-operative lumbar spine CT, and magnetic resonance imaging of the head and neck. His exhibits have been featured at national meetings across the nation, from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., and he was given a cum laude award for his exhibit on “The Impact of the Radiologist on the Diagnosis and Management of the Patient with Paragangliomas of the Head and Neck” and again for “Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Central Skull Base.”

Dr. Braun holds an undergraduate degree from Rutgers College and has an M.D. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Braun completed an internship and two residencies with Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center and a two-year fellowship in diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology at the New York University Medical Center.
